Laser Cutting

Laser cutters are great for making board games, custom-designed items, prototypes and much more. I'm happy that my lab at the University of Waterloo has a laser cutter available for all to use.

Seen below are a set of board game pieces that I made (for the game Hive) hot off the laser cutter.

After cutting and engraving them, the next step was to sand them and then stain half of the pieces a darker colour. The photo below shows the pieces being stained, along with me sanding some of my other Christmas gifts for friends - coasters!

After drying, I lacquered the pieces with some gloss, and the final result can be seen below. Ready to play!

I'm hoping to create a laser cut Risk board, as well as Tsuro or Carcassonne if I can get a hold of the drawings.

Here I will post drawings for my various projects so that you can make them too.
